Apertis Free Software Guidelines

The canonical source of informations regarding Licensing is APERTIS license expectations.


For each APERTIS release, the following component exists in the repository:

  • development
  • hmi
  • proprietary
  • sdk
  • target

The license expectations for each of those components are defined below.

target

Packages in this component are intended to reach final customers hardware. As a general rule, this component must not contain GPL v3 software. In specific situation, this component can contain GPL v3 software listed as exception if it does not reach the final customer device.

hmi

Packages in this component are intended to reach final customers hardware. As a general rule, this component must not contain GPL v3 software. In specific situation, this component can contain GPL v3 software listed as exception if it does not reach the final customer device.

sdk

Packages in this component are only intended to be used on developer machines. They are not intended to reach final customers. For this reason, this component can contain GPL v3 software if they are listed as exception.

development

Packages in this component can reach the target device for development use case. They are not intended to reach final customers. For this reason, this component can contain GPL v3 software if they are listed as exception.

proprietary

Packages in this component are intended to reach final customers hardware. The OEM is responsible to ensure the license of the packages in this component are suitable for distribution.
